Banshee is now okay to play MP3 on Linux Mint 12

I'm not sure what happened, I've not changed anything since I've problem playing my MP3 songs with Banshee. Since then, I used Exaile, but a few days ago  and until now, I tried to play the songs using Banshee and looks like it never crash the system anymore.

I guess the system updates have fixed the previous errors. Alhamdulillah, as there are many more options while using Banshee compare to Exaile. I like !

My Desktop Wallpaper of Mint12

This is my current desktop wallpaper for Mint 12. I like this one, as it shows some motivations while looking at it, every time I use my laptop.

Replaced OpenOffice with LibreOffice

Just now, I replaced my earlier OpenOffice in this desktop (I'm using Linux Mint 10), to Libreoffice v3.4. Actually, I've planned to do this quite for a long time, but only today I managed to do this.

Here are the step I did to uninstalled OpenOffice and then installed LibreOffice:

1. Go to System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager –> Quick Search and type OpenOffice
2. Mark for Complete Removal all the installed OpenOffice software and Apply your choice, then exit the program.

Since I've downloaded the tar file from official site of LibreOffice, I just need to extract the tar file to deb and then run below commands in terminal from the DEBS directory:

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Then change the directory to the 'desktop-integration', and run the same above command once again. Full instructions on how to do that can be obtained from the same official site, in the installation tab.

Alhamdulillah... LibreOffice is now fully installed in this desktop. :)

Solution for Exaile playback error in Mint 12

Recently, I installed the latest version of Mint which is 12, called Lisa. I've done quite many customizations, trying to get it to suit my needs. It's default MP3 player is Banshee, but there was a problem,  where my machine had froze a few times while playing the MP3 songs. So, I looked for another player and I chose Exaile.

Today, I played my MP3 files using Exaile, but after a while the play stopped. I tried again to play another songs, but the same below error happened again. I looked for solution over the internet and I found a solution in Ubuntuforums.

The steps to solve this error are:

1. open folder ~/.gstreamer-0.10
2. remove or rename the registry.x86_64.bin
3. Open your music player, in my case Exaile.
4. System will regenerate the registry file and correctly use the aac plugin.

It's been about 2 hours, and there is no more error. :)

Hijrah seorang perokok

Ramai antara kawan aku yang merokok, tapi tidak aku. Aku memang tidak merokok, memang sejak kecil lagi. Setakat cuba tu adalah, tapi itu hanyalah setakat cuba sahaja, sebatang tu je.. itu pun tak habis. Cuba sikit, tak sedap langsung dan terus tak hisap sampai sekarang.

Aku selalu sindir kawan aku sorang tu, memang saja je dan dia pun tahu aku memang mengata dia. Sebab dia dah janji ngan aku lama dah nak berenti merokok tapi sampai sekarang dia masih lagi.... merokok. Kalau nak cakap tak serupa bikin pun ye jugak dia ni. Takpe, selagi aku sempat, aku akan cuba buat yang terbaik untuk mereka sedarkan diri yang mungkin tak sedar tu.

Hari ni terbaca satu blog ni yang menceritakan hijrah kawannya, daripada seorang perokok tegar kepada tidak merokok langsung. Menarik, apa yang diceritakannya amat menarik sekali. Aku nak buat ni modal untuk bagi kawan aku yang sorang tu baca. Yang lain2 pun, aku akan bagi diorang baca sekali. Harap diorang pun akan sama berhijrah ke arah berhenti merokok.

Pada aku, takde faedahnya merokok ni. Pada mereka, nampak macho, lagi hensem kot... piirahh !
